Raipur, May 10 (IANS). India’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck was flagged off on Saturday to promote clean transport of Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL). These hydrogen-powered trucks will gradually replace diesel vehicles used in the company’s logistics operations.
“Adi is developing ‘Hydrogen Fuel Cell Battery-Operated Truck’ for cargo transport in collaboration with a large auto manufacturer, in addition to a large auto manufacturer,” Adani Group’s flagship company said in a statement.
Each truck is equipped with smart technology and three hydrogen tanks, which can carry cargo up to 40 tonnes to a range of 200 km.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai flagged off the first truck in Raipur.
It will be used to transport coal from Gare Pelma III block to the power plant of the state.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said, “The launch of India’s first hydrogen-guard truck in Chhattisgarh reflects the commitment to the state’s sustainability. Such an initiative will reduce our carbon footprints to a great extent and will set a new standard for the industry. Chhattisgarh is not only at the forefront of fulfilling the power demands, but also in adopting the country’s demands.”
The state -owned Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited has appointed Adani Enterprises for Gare Pelma III block as Mine Developer and Operator through competitive bidding process.
The project is a joint effort between Adani Natural Resources (ANR) and Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), which is part of Adani Enterprises.
ANR will receive hydrogen cell from ANIL, which is also included in green hydrogen, wind turbines, solar modules and battery manufacturing.
Dr. Vinay Prakash, Natural Resources of Adani Enterprises, CEO Dr. Vinay Prakash said, “The initiative of trucks powered by hydrogen is an important step towards the commitment of the Group towards the Group of Dicarbonization and responsible mining. Models with minimum environmental impact are making mines. “
“Our goal is to ensure cheap and reliable electricity for all, as well as to lead new standards in sustainable mining practice,” he said.
