New Delhi, 12 May (IANS). The IDC report on Monday stated that Apple recorded the highest growth of 23 percent in the top five brands in India in the January-March quarter, which set a record of three million units of shipping in the first quarter.
In the March quarter, the iPhone 16 was the most shipped model, which was 4 percent of the total shipment in India during the first quarter of 2025.
Less launched in the first two months of the year, as the brand was focusing on offering retail support, discounts and prices on older models to vacate the inventory.
Aditya Rampal, a senior market analyst at IDC Asia Pacific’s device research, said, “However, with increased marketing activity to increase demand, all the price segment increased in March.”
In the first quarter of 2025, the ASP (average selling price) reached a record of $ 274, which is an increase of 4 percent (on-age).
The premium segment ($ 600- 800) recorded the highest growth of 78.6 percent, with a stake to 4 percent from 2 percent.
The iPhone 16 alone stakes 32 percent in the shipment in this segment.
The Mid-Primium segment ($ 400-600) also saw a strong growth of 74 percent, which increased from 3 percent to 6 percent.
According to the report, Apple and Samsung’s stake in this segment increased, with iPhone 13 and Galax A56 at the forefront.
About 29 million 5G smartphones were shipped in this quarter. The 5G smartphone shipment stake increased to 88 percent, which was 69 percent in the first quarter of 2024, while the ASP declined by 11 percent on an annual basis and it increased to $ 300.
Within 5G, the share of low-end (sub-US $ 100) segment reached 7 percent due to affordable new launch, while 45 percent of shipments were still within a large budget segment of (100-200 $) ($ 100-200).
According to the report, the Qualcomm-based shipment increased by 40.8 percent on an annual basis, which was on 31.8 percent stake, headed by affordable offers such as Xiaomi’s Redmi 14C, while MediaTek’s stake declined by 25.5 percent to 43.6 percent in the first quarter of 2025 to 43.6 percent.
