In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the traders of Jaipur have started a new initiative as a precaution. Now emergency sirens will be installed in the crowded and major markets of the city, so that people can be warned in time during any unexpected situation.
This initiative is being done completely by the traders, but it will be monitored in collaboration with the district administration. Traders say that this step is a demand for time in view of the current environment. Through this system, people can be alerted immediately in the event of any emergency such as terrorist attack, riot or other disaster.
These sirens will first be set up on the major and crowded areas of the city like Chandpol Bazaar, Ramganj Bazar, Sindhi Camp, Mahesh Nagar and Tonk Road. Trade associations of these markets have discussed this proposal with the district administration. The administration has also taken this initiative positively and assured to provide technical assistance.
We spoke to District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni on this matter. The Collector said that in view of the tense situation on the Indo-Pakistan border, many people have offered to provide various types of equipment and resources for public awareness for the safety and vigilance of the common man in Jaipur district, which the district administration is considering. The District Collector also said that even during the time of Kovid, various organizations of Jaipur district came united and came forward for public cooperation.
Currently, a siren will be installed in every market. It has been decided that the responsibility of installation, maintenance and initial operation of sirens will be borne by local traders. After this, a team of district administration will monitor the situation and decide in which case an alert should be issued.
Subhash Goyal, president of the Jaipur Trade Federation, says that the trade federation is ready to set up sirens in the city of Jaipur in the future, to run awareness campaign among the residents of Jaipur and provide all possible support to the district administration in emergency. Subhash Goyal also says that even during the Kovid period, a mask and sanitizer were being distributed by Jaipur Trade Federation and Subhash Goyal.
This type of warning system is being implemented for the first time in Jaipur. If this experiment is successful, it can also be applied to other markets and public places of the city in future. This initiative is not only important in terms of security, but it is also a symbol of administration and shared responsibility of traders.
