So far 21 people have died due to drinking poisonous liquor in Majitha area of Amritsar. Many people are still fighting life and death in the hospital. The incident has shook the entire Punjab.
🔍 10 arrested till now, liquor was being made from methanol
The police have arrested 10 people, including the main accused Prabhjeet Singh. People involved in the gang were preparing fake liquor by ordering methanols online.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the gang includes the chief distributor, local seller and chemical supplier. The gang leader is Sahib Singh, who ordered methanol from Ludhiana.
Officers fell on officers, DSP and SHO suspended
DSP and SHO of Majitha have been suspended to be negligent. The DGP said that cases have been registered under BNS, Excise Act and SC/ST Act in this case.

According to SSP Maninder Singh, Sahib Singh bought 50 liters of methanol, and he was also asking for a consignment from Delhi which has been tracked. Action is also being taken on that.

Be careful: Do not lose life in the greed of cheap and illicit liquor. If you are aware of suspected liquor business in an area, then immediately inform the police.
The Punjab government should punish the culprits in the fast track court so that such incidents do not happen again.
