Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov
Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov said on Thursday that western countries are putting India and China against each other. According to the news of the government news agency TASS, Lavarov made this comment at a meeting of the Diplomatic Club held on the subject of ‘Culture: Role and Development of Cultural Diplomacy’ in Moscow.
Trying to create conflict between India and China
The Russian Foreign Minister said, “Consider the recent developments of the Asia-Pacific region, which the West has started calling its policy clearly to make anti-China trends, with the hope that it can create conflict between our great friends and neighboring countries India and China.”
Lavrov has been critic of quad
Lavarov has been an outspoken critic of the established quadratic safety dialog (quad) to deal with China’s growing influence. Quad includes India, America, Japan and Australia. Lavarov said that the western country is trying to weaken the role of ASEAN (South-Eastern Asian nations) in Asia. He said, “Like other parts of the Western partners want to come here in an impressive role here. They want to weaken the central role of ASEAN”
Lavrov also spoke about ASEAN
ASEAN is a regional group of 10 countries in South-East Asia, which aims to promote economic and security cooperation among its members. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are its member countries. The Russian Foreign Minister said, “Our Western allies are gradually starting to sideline the rules of consensus, shared base and some ASEAN countries are tempting ASEAN countries to openly connect to resistant forums instead of integrated forums.”
Lavrov mention Eurasia and Africa
Lavarov said, “There is no other continent like Eurasia, where so many civilizations live together and who have maintained their identity and relevance even in the modern era. However, Eurasia is also the only continent where there is no continent-wide platform. Eurasia needs such an integrated platform, so that many big, really, in fact, can be condensed in the interests of greats and universities. He reminded that while the African Union is present in Africa besides sub-regional forums, Latin America and Caribbean region have a community (CELAC) of Latin American and Caribbean states (CELAC), while no such platform has been built in Eurasia yet.
