Riyadh: US President Donald Trump has met Syrian interim President Ahmed Al-Shara. This was the first meeting of the leaders of the two countries after 25 years. The meeting is considered to be very important for Syria, which has been struggling to overcome the situation of internationally isolated for decades. The talks, which took place from the meeting of Trump with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), is a major development for Syria, who has been recovering from the ‘Asad family’ over 50 years of reign. Trump said about Syria, “I am sure this will give him a chance. He has a good chance. It was an honor for me to do so.” Trump said that he was mainly encouraged by Saudi’s Yuvraj Mohammed to meet Al-Shara. White House press secretary Caroline Lewit said in a statement that Trump urged Al-Shara to diplomally recognize Israel, “ask all foreign terrorists to leave Syria” and help the US to stop any kind of bulge of the Islamic State Group. Al-Shra became the interim President of Syria in January this year.
