Dr. Masood Pipeshkian, President of Iran.
Tehran: Iran’s President Masood Page Seshakian on Saturday clarified that his country would continue talks with the US about the nuclear program, but would not bow down to any kind of threat or pressure. He gave this comment while addressing the Iranian Naval officials, which was aired on national television. President Page Sakian said in his address, “We are talking and will continue to do further. Our aim is not war, but we are not afraid of any danger. Even if we are threatened, we will not leave our legitimate rights. We will not back down from our respectable military, scientific and nuclear capabilities.”
Talks reached “expert level”
Porashakian reported that the conversation between the US and Iran has now reached the “expert level”, which means that the two sides are working on the technical and practical details of the possible agreement. However, the main controversial issue of the conversation still remains – Iran’s uranium enrichment program. Iran says that it is its legitimate and sovereign right to promote uranium for nuclear power, while the US wants Iran to limit or stop the process, as it leads to the possibility of making nuclear weapons.
Trump’s threat and Iran’s response
US President Donald Trump recently made a statement that if there is no agreement, the US could take military action on Iran’s nuclear bases. Trump also claimed on Friday that Iran has been given a new proposal during the talks, although he did not explain its details. Iranian officials have warned that if the US attacked, Iran may further enrich its uranium reserves, leading to steps towards nuclear weapons manufacturing.
Iran repeats the “peaceful” nature of the nuclear program
Here, Mohammad Islam, head of Iran’s nuclear power organization, reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program is for a complete peaceful purpose and is under the continuous supervision of the United Nations Atomic Monitoring Agency (IAEA). He said, “Our program is being run with complete transparency. Hardly nuclear establishments of any other country are monitored by IAEA at this level. In 2024, the agency has done more than 450 inspections.”
