New Delhi, 17 May (IANS). According to the information given by the central government, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will preside over a high -level stakeholder consultation on ‘developed agriculture’ in Nagpur on Monday. Along with this, they will also review major agricultural and rural development schemes.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will also attend the meeting. Union Minister Shivraj Singh will inaugurate the National Soil Spectral Library (NSSL).
NSSL is a leading initiative in Digital Agriculture, developed by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research, National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning- Nagpur, Indian Institute of Soil Science- Bhopal, Indian Agriculture Research Institute-New Delhi.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this initiative is part of the network program on Princess Agriculture.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh will also launch an AI-based smart trap for Pink Ballworm, a major insect pink that affects cotton crops.
ICAR-Central Cotton Research Institute- This technique developed by Nagpur uses advanced machine learning algorithms for accurate insect control.
During the program, progressive farmers of the region will also be honored for their significant contribution to agriculture.
According to the ministry, the establishment of the National Soil Spectral Library is an important milestone in India’s journey to digital agriculture.
This library will facilitate a contactless, acute and cost-effective method of soil analysis instead of traditional weight chemical-based testing.
The Soil spectral data representing India’s diverse agricultural-class areas will be formally dedicated to the nation by the Union Minister.
The program will be accompanied by Union Minister Chauhan, DARE Secretary and Director General of ICAR Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Deputy Director General, Assistant Director General- Director of ICAR Institutes in Maharashtra, Vice Chancellor of State Agricultural Universities (SAU) and other dignitaries.
