Hemant gogoi pakistan connection: From the political streets of Delhi to the streets of Guwahati, only one name is echoing Gaurav Gogoi. The questions arising on this Congress leader of Assam are no longer only within the boundaries of social media, but from the corridors of Parliament to the discussion of the people. Questions are now being raised on this young face of the opposition whether they should really be removed from delegation? Is there the truth in the allegations against him or is it all a well thought out political trick? And the biggest question is Gaurav Gogoi’s direct or indirect connection with Pakistan?
How the whole matter started
This matter did not suddenly come into the limelight. Everything started when a parliamentary delegation was selected for a foreign tour including Gaurav Gogoi’s name. But as soon as his name came up, the leaders of the ruling party and some independent political analysts started opposing it. Hashtags began to trend on social media – #RemoveOGOGIFROMDELEGATION and #GOGOPAKISTANLINKS. While the Congress party was seen standing in support of its young leader, many other parties including the BJP raised questions that how can a person be given the right to represent India, who is accused of being involved in many criminal and controversial cases?
The matter was further heated when Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directly said in a press conference, “Those who tarnish the image of the country cannot be made the face of India on international forums. People who are suspicious of activities should not find a place in any process related to foreign policy.” But now the question arises that who is Gaurav Gogoi after all? And why suddenly this kind of campaign is being run against them?
Who is Gaurav Gogoi?
Gaurav Gogoi is the son of former Union Minister and late Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi. Gaurav Gogoi, who has been educating Harvard University, stepped into politics with the intention of advancing his father’s legacy. He first became an MP on a Congress ticket in 2014 and re -elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019. He has been considered an emerging young face in the Congress party, whose image has been called clean till now.
Suspicious allegations against Gaurav Gogoi
But, in the last few years, many such controversies have arisen around him which question his credibility. The biggest accusation came to light on him with an NGO funding, claiming funding by an alleged trust associated with Pakistan. Many reports were revealed about the role of Gogoi in the trustees of this NGO, although the Congress described these allegations as “very ridiculous and politically motivated”.
Apart from this, two cases of corruption against Gogoi are registered in Assam, in which one case is accused of misuse of government land and illegal benefit to a private company in the other. Although no fault has been proved by the court in any of these cases, the investigation is still going on. BJP and other parties are constantly targeting Gogoi’s image on the basis of these cases.
Is Gaurav Gogoi’s Pakistan connection
Talking about the Pakistan connection, another major allegation is that Gogoi attended a private international conference in 2022, including Pakistani think tanks and retired ISI officials. In this conference, the criticism of the Government of India by Gogoi is being described as anti -national. However, Gogoi had clarified that he is a representative of a democratic country and tries to keep India’s image better on any platform.
What will Gaurav Gogoi be removed from delegation
Now the question arises whether they should be removed from delegation on the basis of these allegations? The Congress says that no legal defect has been proved on Gogoi yet and he is being targeted just because he is an emerging leader of the opposition. On the other hand, the BJP spokesperson even said that “Gaurav Gogoi is the Rahul Gandhi version 2.0 of the Congress, whose politics is also full of confusion, rage and anti -national agenda”.
Ethics Committee took cognizance
The controversy has now taken a new turn as the Ethics Committee of Parliament has taken cognizance of this issue and has sought answers from Gogoi. If these allegations are found to be, then not only will be removed from delegation, but Parliament Membership can also be affected. Gaurav Gogoi describes himself as innocent, saying, “It is a conspiracy to silence me because I ask the question. I am not going to retreat.” But the question is, is this really a conspiracy, or are the allegations against Gogoi are highlighting a deep truth? It will be interesting to see whose next trick will be in this new war of politics. But it is certain that Gaurav Gogoi has now turned not only a leader, but has turned into the center of a political story, including the country, parties, allegations, foreign connections and power hunger.
