There have been 284 terrorist incidents in Pakistan’s disturbed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province by 2025. North-Western province is one of the most affected provinces in terrorism in the country.
On Sunday, PTI quoted this by quoting an official report. A report by the Anti -Terrorism Department stated that out of 284 incidents – 53 – were recorded in North Waziristan district, followed by Bannu (35), Dera Ismail Khan (31), Peshawar (13) and Kurram (8).
The report also said that so far 148 terrorists have been killed in the entire province this year, of which 67 terrorists were killed in Dera Ismail Khan, who is the home district of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The names of 1,116 suspects have been revealed in cases related to terrorism across the province, out of which 95 have been arrested so far. In 2024, 732 attacks were recorded in the province, while in 2023 the number was 651. This was the highest number of attacks after 2009 and 2010.
The law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa started deteriorating from mid -2021 and the attacks have increased since 2023. Even the police headquarters of the provincial capital was hit by an attack, when in January 2023, a suicide bomber attacked the central mosque of the police line with explosives.
More than 86 policemen were killed and more than 200 injured in the biggest attack on the police force. In recent years, not only police and law enforcement personnel, but also religious scholars, politicians and other high-profile persons have also been targeted for attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
