Cambodia’s historical and UNESCO World Heritage Site Ankorwat
Bangkok: 3 people who went to visit the famous Ankorwat temple complex in Cambodia died due to lightning and many others were injured. The site is included in the list of historical heritage of UNESCO. Tourists were taking shelter around the main temple on Friday afternoon when lightning fell.
Tourism Minister asked people to remove online posts
In the video shared on social media, 2 ambulances were seen coming after the incident. The people and officers present on the spot were seen carrying some injured and helping others get out. The next day of the incident, Cambodia’s Tourism Minister Hut Haq issued a statement asking people to remove the online posts related to the incident, and also said that the spread of negative information could harm the tourism sector of the country.
Cambodian citizens were all dead
Officials have not given any information about the incident, but on Monday, an official, while talking to the ‘Associated Press’ on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case, confirmed that 3 people were killed due to lightning that is all Cambodian citizens. The spokesperson and the Regional Health Officer of the Ankorwat site did not respond to the incident. Prime Minister Hun Manet -led Cambodia government holds a hard grip on information. (AP)
