New Delhi. There may be new difficulty for Pakistan. According to sources, the Government of India is trying to bring Pakistan to the Gray list of FATF again. Pakistan was also in the gray list of FATF in the year 2018. FATF lists financial assistance, hawala and money laundering countries gray and black to terrorist organizations. It is not easy to take loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or World Bank for the country which keeps the FATF in the gray list. He has to take such steps again, so that FATF can get out of the gray list.
Pakistan was also alleged earlier that it provides financial assistance to terrorist organizations. For this reason, Pakistan was kept in the gray list by FATF. Pakistan had taken legal action against Lashkar-e-Taiba’s chief terrorist Hafiz Saeed and some other terrorists to escape in such a situation. After which he was expelled from the gray list by FATF in 2022. According to sources, now the Government of India is once again going to provide such evidence to FATF how Pakistan is financially assisting terrorist organizations. If the Government of India handed over strong evidence, then FATF can once again put Pakistan in its gray list. In such a situation, it will be difficult for Pakistan to get financial help from international institutions.
The Government of India has already asked the World Bank and IMF not to give loans to Pakistan. India has constantly argued that Pakistan helps its terrorist organizations with financial help from these international institutions. Recently, when the IMF decided to provide financial assistance of $ 1 billion to Pakistan, the director of the Government of India opposed it. Despite opposition from the Government of India, the IMF gave this amount to Pakistan. However, the IMF has imposed 11 more strict conditions on Pakistan in lieu of paying $ 1 billion. The number of IMF conditions on Pakistan has now reached 50. If the Government of India once again succeeds in getting the name of Pakistan in the gray list of FATF, then Pakistan can curb its terrorist antics.
