Young professionals are facing the most stress on workplace in India: report

Chennai, 20 May (IANS). Amidst the changes in the workplace, young professionals in India are facing stress and mental health problems. This information was given in a report on Tuesday.

A report by the Global Technology Company ADP highlights the changes in ’emotional landscape’, where the gaps (differences between generations) are becoming increasingly clear at the stress level.

The report showed that the highest stress level has been seen in young professionals between the ages of 27 to 39 years. 11 percent of professionals said that they do high stress experience, which is more than 9 percent of the national average.

Only 51 percent of the workers aged 18-26 gave information about better stress management.

On the other hand, older workers aged 55–64 gave information about stress management, in which 81 percent of the workers said that they feel stressed in less than once a week.

More workload was found as the main trigger for the youth employee, where 16 percent of the people aged 18-26 years spoke of tension due to heavy workload.

In addition, 67 percent of the workers reported that they are judged for flexible working arrangements. 65 percent of the workers said that work is being monitored, which can increase the feelings of pressure.

Rahul Goel, Managing Director of ADP India and South East Asia, said, “These findings show that today’s workforce, especially young professionals complex and emotionally demanding work environment. The effect of stress and judge is the need to create a more alert environment for their employees.

The tension level among Indian employees has reduced by 12 percent to 9 percent in 2023, while the percentage of employees who feel that they are succeeding in their jobs have reduced by 22 percent to 20 percent in 2024 in 2023.

Goyal said, “Providing flexibility is only part of the solution. One who really matters is to create a culture of faith, sympathy and psychological security. By prioritizing the mental well-beating of the employees, companies can promote a healthy, more engaged and productive workforces.”
