New Delhi. The Supreme Court has rejected a petition to register a police case against Justice Justice Yashwant Verma of Allahabad High Court in the case of burning cash. Justice Abhay S. The bench of Oka and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan dismissed this petition. Some lawyers filed a petition in the Supreme Court and appealed to order a police case against Justice Yashwant Verma in the case of burning cash. The bench of the Supreme Court dismissed the petition, saying that the then CJI of the Supreme Court Sanjeev Khanna got a 3 -judge committee investigated in the residence of Yashwant Verma. The investigation report has been sent to the President and the PM.

The Supreme Court said that those who filed the petition did not give their report to the President and the PM in this matter. Because of this his petition is dismissed. The court said that the President and PM have to take steps in this case. Justice Abhay S. Oka, while hearing the petition, said that we are not saying that you cannot file a petition, but neither you are aware of the facts of the investigation report against Justice Yashwant Verma nor we are. You should give them a report to take action from the President and PM. If they do not take action, you can come here. Your main prayer has taken action on the concerned judge (Yashwant Verma).

Justice Yashwant Verma was the first judge of the Delhi High Court. On the night of 14 March 2025, there was a fire in the store room of his government residence in Delhi. On receiving this information, the then CJI Sanjeev Khanna had sat in the investigation. Also, the Allahabad High Court of Justice Yashwant Verma was transferred. Justice Yashwant Verma has expressed suspicion of conspiracy in the case of cash burning. At the same time, there was news in the media quoting sources that the committee of 3 judges has held Justice Yashwant Verma responsible. It was reported in the media that Sanjeev Khanna while CJI had given Justice Yashwant Verma till 9 May 2025 to resign. For not doing so, he sent the inquiry committee report of judges to burn cash to the residence of Justice Yashwant Verma to the President and PM for further action. It is believed that now Justice Yashwant Verma can be imperedation.
