Three people died after allegedly drinking alcohol in Basti Jodhewal in Ludhiana district after 27 people died after drinking poisonous liquor in Amritsar. The police gave this information on Thursday.
However, ADCP Davinder Chaudhary said that the exact cause of death would be known only after the post -mortem.
Three laborers Rinku (40), Debi (27) and Mangu (32) drank alcohol on the vacant plot on Noorwala Road on Wednesday night. Shortly after, he fainted and foam started coming out of his mouth.
Police said he was rushed to a civil hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Earlier this month, 27 people died due to drinking poisonous liquor in Amritsar, most of whom were daily wage laborers.
Investigations revealed that the chemical methanol used in industrial products was purchased online to prepare poisonous decoction.
