Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the party strongly condemns the raid by Karnataka’s Home Minister and senior political leader G. Parmeshwar on Wednesday. He alleged that this action has been taken at the behest of the Prime Minister.
Ramesh accused the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of doing politics of “harassment, vengeance and threats”.
In a post on X, Jairam Ramesh wrote, “The Congress strongly condemns the ED’s raids on the Karnataka Home Minister.
He said, “The action of the ED at the behest of the Prime Minister reflects the politics of harassment, vengeance and threats, which he himself is a master. The BJP is clearly nervous and worried about the achievements of the Karnataka government in the last two years. We will not be silent. We will not be silent to the Prime Minister for many of his failures on many fronts.”
After a media report of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at several places allegedly associated with Karnataka Home Minister Ji Parmeshwar, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala criticized the recent decision of the Government of Karnataka for giving ownership to one lakh SC-ST families.
In a post on X on social media, Surjewala wrote, “ED raids on educational institutions of Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar, who are one of the biggest SC leaders, have a frustrated response of BJP and Modi government to give ownership to 1 lakh SC-ST families in Hospet tomorrow.”
The Congress leader termed the development as a “frequent attack” on the leaders of the Constitution and the SC-ST-OBC communities across the country and said that “trying to take revenge against G. God is part of a terrible conspiracy.”
Targeting the BJP, Surjewala said that the ED raid is “a frustrated attempt to hide the corruption of the previous BJP governments.”
Earlier, denial of the involvement of Home Minister Ji Parmeshwar in any case, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar said that the leaders are very “civilized” and “simple” individuals.
Talking to media persons, Shivkumar said, “I am sure that my Home Minister is not involved in any case. He is a very civilized and simple person. Ji Parmeshwar is not involved in any kind of case.”
