Government Insurance Scheme ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ has now been extended to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above. The objective of this initiative is to provide health coverage to about 4.5 crore families, which will provide a health insurance cover of about 6 crore senior citizens per family. In addition, senior citizens aged 70 years and above will be provided a special card under the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme.
How to apply for Ayushman Card
You can apply through Ayushman Bharat Senior Citizen Scheme website and Ayushman app. This application is available on Google Play Store for Android platform.

Apply like this over 70 years of age
Online Registration – Senior Citizen National Health Authority can register online for Ayushman Card through the official website of NHA or Ayushman app.
Apply through these easy steps on the NHA portal –
Step 1: Visit NHA beneficiary portal.
Step 2: Enter your phone number, solve the captcha and certify through the OTP to login.
Step 3: Click on the banner of senior citizens above 70 years of age for enrollment.
Step 4: Fill details like your state, district and Aadhaar number.
Step 5: Use Aadhaar OTP for KYC verification and upload the latest photo.
Step 6: Download Ayushman Vy Vandana Card within 15 minutes after approval.
How to apply from mobile application –
Step 1: Download the Ayushman app and install it on your mobile.
Step 2: Enter your phone number, solve the captcha and certify through the OTP to login.
Step 3: Provide base related information and announcement.
Step 4: Upload a latest photo.
Step 5: Enter details of beneficiaries and family members and then complete the EKYC process.
Step 6: Download the card immediately after successful registration.
If no beneficiary is found or any other problem occurs, be sure to complete the EKYC process and agree to OTP verification.
Important things
Under the AB PM-JAY, senior citizens of already covered families will get an additional top-up of Rs 5 lakh per year. This top-up is especially for them and does not need to share it with family members under 70 years of age. Such senior citizens, who are not part of the current AB PM-JAY family scheme, will be provided an annual coverage of Rs 5 lakh on family basis.
Currently, senior citizens enrolled in other public health insurance schemes, such as the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Ex-Servicemen Contribution Scheme (ECHS) or Ayushman CAPF, can choose to continue their current scheme or to switch to AB PM-JAY. , Senior citizens under Private Health Insurance or Employees State Insurance Scheme are also eligible for profit under AB PM-JAY.
