Talking state -wise, Kerala has maximum 95 active cases, 66 in Tamil Nadu and 56 active cases of Corona in Maharashtra. In Mumbai recently, two infected Kovid -infected people were killed, one of which was a minor. However, both people were also suffering from other serious diseases. 5 active cases of Kovid have been found in Delhi. The reason for the increasing cases of Corona is JN.1 variant. JN.1 variant which comes out of Omikron BA.2.86 variant. According to the WHO, the JN.1 variant has about 30 mutations and among them the recently reported cases are 2 most common variants LF.7 and NB.1.8. The JN.1 variant can spread faster as this variant has mutation in spike protein. JN.1 variants show symptoms like sore throat, nasal water, mild fever, fatigue and cough. In some cases it has also been seen that the taste of the food or the power to smell goes away. It is being told that this variant who has got vaccine can also infect them.
It is a matter of relief that the JN.1 variant is similar to the old variants of Omikron and the risk of serious illness is very low. Most people infected with this have seen mild symptoms. Therefore, there is no need to panic about this, but it is necessary to take precaution. The Union Health Ministry is keeping a close watch on the situation. People have been appealed that they should not be panic and if any person sees symptoms of being infected with Kovid-19, seek immediate medical help.
