The India-Pakistan relations have once again increased, when Pakistan Army spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary openly threatened India in the context of the Indus Water Treaty. He said in the style of terrorist Hafiz Saeed, “If you stop our water, we will stop your breath.” This statement has come in the context of reviewing the Indus Water Treaty by India and reconsideration of the policy of controlling the water flow.
The Government of India indicated a review of the Jalasandhi and other bilateral agreements with Pakistan on 22 April in Pahalgam in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 innocent citizens were killed. After this, this sharp response has come from Pakistan. Chaudhary’s statement directly matches the old threat of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s kingpin and the UN terrorist Hafiz Saeed. Saeed had earlier said, “If India stops our water, then blood rivers will flow.”
This statement is not only political rhetoric but highlights the mentality and strategic coordination between Pakistan’s Army and terrorist organizations. When the army spokesperson uses the terrorist language from the public platform, it makes Pakistan’s image even more suspicious on the international platform.
India has so far introduced restraint, but reviews of the Indus Water Treaty indicates that the country that promotes terrorism will no longer be softened as before. There should be a warning for Pakistan that if it continues to adopt terrorist language and strategy, then its responsibility for regional stability will be fixed.
It has once again become clear from this statement that the Pakistan Army is not just a military institution, but also a political and ideological force, which has become a threat against its neighboring countries.
