Maharashtra election:After a major victory in the assembly elections in Maharashtra, the BJP is now preparing for the local body elections. For this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reached Nanded today so that the preparations of the party take stock. Local body elections are going to be held in Maharashtra in the next 4 months. Mahayuuuti alliance and opposition Mahavikas Aghadi Grand Alliance, who is running the government to win this election, are formulating their respective strategy, Amit Shah also reached Nagpur late on Saturday night.
A BJP leader said that every election is important for the party, whether it is Lok Sabha, Assembly or Municipal Corporation. For these elections, both the state and the team team make plans together. The BJP is delaying the election of the national president and the new state president is not being made in five states.
Shankar Rao Chavan’s special relationship with Nanded
Nanded seat is identified with former Chief Minister Shankar Rao Chavan. His son and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Last year, Ashok Chavan left the Congress and joined BJP. Ashok Chavan is now a Rajya Sabha MP from the BJP and his daughter is an MLA. The Chavan family will show their strength at Amit Shah’s rally in Nanded.
What did Devendra Fadnavis say?
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that the BJP will contest the local body elections along with its two colleagues, Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. However, there is a tussle between BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) over the seat sharing at the Brihanmumbai Municipality of Mumbai (BMC).
What is Amit Shah’s effort?
Amit Shah wants BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP to unite and contest elections, so that there is no mutual dispute but in about 16 municipal corporations including many major cities of the state, local leaders in about 16 municipal corporations want the local leaders to contest elections alone.
Ashok Chavan’s new strategy
Ashok Chavan’s attempt in Nanded is to bring some leaders of Congress and Sharad Pawar’s party NCP (SP) to BJP. With his arrival, BJP has strengthened its hold in Nanded district, while this area was previously considered a stronghold of Congress. However, Ashok Chavan did not show much impact in the Lok Sabha elections and BJP had to face defeat in Nanded. But in the assembly elections, BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) defeated the Congress in every seat.
The BJP won four seats here, while the Shiv Sena of Shinde faction won two seats. Now BJP and Ashok Chavan are eyeing Nanded Waghala Municipal Corporation (NWMC) election. This Municipal Corporation has been a stronghold of Congress and BJP has never won here in the last 28 years. This time the BJP wants to win here.
