Rain havoc in Delhi-NCR: Water filled with water, vehicles stuck, 49 flight divert

On Sunday morning, Delhi received heavy rains with strong winds, causing the capital’s normal life to disrupt. Many roads were flooded, which disrupted traffic. Somewhere the trees were broken and some vehicles were drowned. Apart from this, the air travels also faced the problem.

In the photographs obtained from Delhi Cantt, a bus and a vehicle are seen immersed in water in the submerged underpass, which shows the seriousness of the rain. ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Subroto Park, Nanakpura underpass and Chanakyapuri areas also saw heavy waterlogging, which disrupted traffic.

Trees were also uprooted on Akbar Road due to storm and heavy rains. Flight operations were also affected due to bad weather and 49 flights were converted from 11:30 am to 4 am.

The route for 49 flights at Delhi Airport had to change

The route of 49 flights, including 17 international flights, was changed between 11:30 am and 4 am in Delhi after heavy rains with strong winds in Delhi in the early hours of Sunday. Sources in the Delhi Airport said, “The route of 49 flights was changed between 11:30 am and 4 am in Delhi. General services have been restored.”

Airport sources said that 49 flights included 17 international flights. Delhi Airport issued advice for passengers at 06:50 am on Sunday morning.

The Delhi Airport said in a post on X, “Some flights have been affected due to adverse weather conditions last night. Passengers are advised to regularly check their flight status and keep in touch with the airline employees for updates. Our on-team teams are working with all the stakeholders to get a comfortable and skilled experience.”

Meanwhile, Lodhi Road data showed that the temperature fell from 8 to 10 ° C to 31 ° C to 22 ° C. The temperature declined due to thunderstorms between 1:15 am and 02:30 pm today.

The temperature at Safdarjung Airport fell from 31.0 ° C to 21.0 ° C. Palam fell from 29.0 ° C to 22.0 ° C at the airport. In Pusa, it fell from 31.8 ° C to 20.5 ° C. The temperature in Pragati Maidan fell from 31.4 degrees Celsius to 21.3 ° C. The temperature in Lodhi Road fell from 31.0 ° C to 22.3 ° C.

Earlier on Saturday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Delhi and surrounding areas, warning of strong thunderstorms, rain and strong winds in the next two to three hours.

This alert is part of the Nucast Warning released based on current weather conditions. According to IMD, a stormy storm is coming from the west/north-west in Delhi and surrounding areas. Due to this effect, in the next 1 to 2 hours, parts of the city are likely to shine strong thunderstorms or dusty air activity as well as repeated lightning shine and strong winds (40–60 km/h or more speed).

The Meteorological Department has urged the residents to take necessary precautions. The IMD has warned people not to escape from open places and not take shelter under trees. He has also asked citizens to avoid weak walls or unstable structures and stay away from water bodies.

Recently, on Wednesday, a group of clouds entered North Delhi and moved towards the south-south, causing dust storm and strong winds. The winds moved at a speed of 50-60 km per hour, which increased to 70 kmph, as well as light rain in the evening.

In many parts of Delhi, there are reports of strong dust storm, storm, hailstorm and electricity supply in many areas of the capital after rain.
