High level meeting to review Kovid -19 in Bihar, Health Department said - 'No need to panic'

Patna, 26 May (IANS). After receiving two patients of Corona in a private hospital in Patna, the capital of Bihar, the Health Department on Monday held a review meeting on the current status of Kovid-19 infection and preparations to deal with it. This important meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary of Development Commissioner cum Health Department, Pratyam Amrit.

The meeting reviewed the current status of Kovid-19 infection, availability of health facilities, arrangements for investigation and treatment and supply of necessary resources including medicines and oxygen. On this occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary appealed to the public that there is no need to panic with the new variant of Korona, but to be vigilant and aware.

According to the Indian SARS-Kov-2 Ginomic Consortium (INSACOG), two new sub-variants of Kovid-19-NB1.8.1 and LF.7 have been identified in India. The World Health Organization has placed both of them in the category of ‘variants kept under surveillance’, which means they are not very dangerous.

During the meeting, the suffix Amrit instructed all civil surgeons and superintendents of medical colleges to identify suspicious cases, active monitoring and ensure timely investigation. All districts were also instructed to be ready for any possible situation.

He informed that the Health Department is ensuring sufficient amount of testing kits, masks, medicines, oxygen and supply of equipment to all districts. The Additional Chief Secretary laid special emphasis on ensuring transparency, effective coordination and accountability in health services. Along with this, instructions were also given to increase public awareness and strengthen the process of regular monitoring.

The meeting was attended by Manoj Kumar Singh, Secretary, Health Department, Dharmendra Kumar, Managing Director, BMSICL, Anupama Singh, Joint Secretary, Health Department as well as other officials. Also, civil surgeons of all the districts of the state, Principal and Superintendent of Government Medical Colleges also participated in this meeting through video conferencing.
