D. Subbarao Advocated Reforms in UPSC Examination: Former Reserve Bank Governor D. Subbarao took reforms in UPSC exam

New Delhi. Former Reserve Bank of India Governor D. Subbarao has taken favor of improving the Civil Services Recruitment Process. In his opinion, the maximum age of the candidates for the UPSC exam should be reduced and the number of examination efforts should also be reduced. Subbarao has also suggested conducting a separate examination for them, advocating experienced professionals who have crossed the age of 40 in the administrative service. Subbarao has also given some arguments about these things.

D. Subbarao congratulated the selected candidates in the Civil Services Results of 2024 in one of his articles in the Times of India. At the same time, he raised the issue of students who could not succeed in the examination. He said that at least 10 people behind a successful candidate are those who fail even after preparing for years. When the exam is not cleared, they come from where it started. It is a waste of hard work and time. Subbarao said, despite repeated failure, the candidates think that when it is so hard and if left now, then everything will be wasted, so they get ready again thinking that maybe this time. Due to this thinking, the best years of life of many youth get spoiled.

Subbarao said that the maximum age limit of UPSC should be 27 years and the number of maximum efforts should be three. He argued that when there is a chance six times, people understand the technique of cracking the exam, not on the basis of real talent or merit. This also increases the possibility of wrong selection. He also said that the youth who come in civil service are unaware of the understanding of the world and the administration, in such a situation, the mid-career professionals of the age of 40 will fulfill this deficiency.
