NCP (SP) leader Anil Deshmukh on Monday rejected the speculation of political reunion after recent meetings between Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar, saying that there was no discussion on the rival NCP groups coming together.
NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have met several times in recent times, which has intensified the speculation of reconciliation in political circles.
When asked about this, Deshmukh told reporters here, “There has been no discussion on the re-unite of the two NCPs. Both leaders continue to meet on different occasions on issues related to Chinese and educational institutions. There has been no discussion on the merger of both groups.” The former Home Minister of the state said that such meetings are regular.
On the issue of various local and municipal elections pending in the state, Deshmukh said that he should be held as per the order of the Supreme Court. He said, “Clean drinking water and governance issues are pending, so elections should not be delayed.”
Elections of several local and municipal bodies including important and cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have been pending for a long time.
The Supreme Court last month directed the State Election Commission to hold local body elections within four months, which will be held mini-assembly elections.
On the issue of not appointing patron ministers in Raigad and Nashik, Deshmukh said, “It is disappointing that the major administrative posts are left vacant. For better administration, we will have to solve this problem together.” He also criticized the state government for failing to overcome the real problems of farmers.
Deshmukh said, “He promised debt waiver, but nothing was done. The government should work, not just talk.”
He also alleged fraud in the recruitment of teachers in Malegaon and demanded a high -level inquiry into it. “More than 100 fake teachers have been recruited in fake ways.” He said that if the government fails to take immediate action in this matter, they will knock the door of the court.
He said, “If the education minister is scam in his constituency, then it is necessary to investigate its intense and independent investigation.”
