Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that the country’s criminal justice system is entering a new era, underlining the importance of strong forensic institutions to ensure safe, transparent and evidence-based structure.
Amit Shah, who was on a two -day visit to West Bengal, inaugurated the new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Rajarhat, Kolkata.
In his address after the inauguration, Shah said, “The Government of India is creating a safe, transparent and evidence -based criminal justice system …. It is important that two steps ahead of criminals stop crime. Our criminal justice system is entering a new era.”
He further stated that the Central Government established the first National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in 2020, which was long before the implementation of three new criminal laws – BNS, BNSS and BSA.
He highlighted that eight such institutions have already been established across the country and there are plans to open eight more. He emphasized that graduates from these colleges would play an important role in strengthening the law and order of the state.
He said, “We have helped every state to set up a forensic van in every district. Many states have expanded their forensic laboratories. We had already established the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in 2020. Sixteen institutions have been approved, eight have already been established and the remaining eight are in the process. Will give. “
The Union Minister stressed the priority of providing justice as soon as possible to the poor and said, “Our duty is to ensure that every poor person can get justice as soon as possible. I believe that we will create an environment where our people will rely on the law and order of the country.”
His visit is taking place a few days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to North Bengal, which outlines the constant focus of the central leadership on the state.
Earlier, Shah posted on X both English and Bengali: “I am leaving for Kolkata. Tomorrow, I will inaugurate the new building of Central Forensic Science Laboratory, which will contribute greatly to strengthen the criminal justice system in West Bengal and Northeast India.” He said, “In the afternoon, I will interact with the workers at the Vijay Sankalp Karyana Sammelan in Kolkata. I am eager to participate in the programs.”
The visit is expected to focus on BJP’s roadmap for West Bengal before the 2026 assembly elections.
