The Congress on Wednesday claimed that a large number of Indian students were affected by the steps taken by the administration led by US President Donald Trump but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar are “completely silent” in the matter which is not surprising.
Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote on the social media forum ‘X’, “According to the Ministry of External Affairs, in 2024, about 3,37,630 Indian students went to America for higher education. About one -third of foreign students are from India in American educational complexes. He said that this means that about three and a half million Indian families invested their hard -earned money for their children’s education or borrowed for it.
Ramesh said that students who went to America are facing an uncertain future and may never fulfill the aspirations of a large number of students planning to go there in 2025. He said, ‘President Donald Trump has made his intentions clear. China has reacted strongly to Chinese students, but it is not surprising that our Prime Minister and Foreign Minister are completely silent.
Ramesh said, “He is completely silent on the claims of President Trump to close” Operation Sindoor “after only four days and he has not even said a word of concern on how bad the work of President Trump is affecting Indian students and his families.”
