New Delhi, 4 June (IANS). Shishir Priyadarshi, President of the Chintan Research Foundation, said on Wednesday that the purpose of today’s session was to find out the different economic and political challenges coming up with the Indo-Madhya Pradesh Eye-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) initiative.
Economic and geopolitical experts said during a one-day conference organized by the Chintan Research Foundation (CRF) that the Indo-East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) could prove to be a game-changer towards India’s strong and rapid economic growth.
The Indo-Central East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) is an inter-monopic connectivity project. It was announced in September 2023 during the G20 summit in Delhi. It is an adventure vision to connect India to Europe in the Arabian peninsula and imagines a multi-model Economic Corridor involving many businesses integrating railways, ports, highways, energy networks and digital infrastructure to increase trade, investment and contact in continents.
Shishir Priyadarshi, president of the program’s organizer Chintan Research Foundation, told the news agency IANS, “India-East-Europe Economic Corridor is an important project for the country. The project was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G20 summit held in New Delhi in 2023. The main objective of the scheme is to connect India to Europe through the Middle East.”
He further said that the plan was announced about 2 years ago but many works are still yet to be done. The objective of the Chintan Research Foundation regarding today’s session is to find out different economic and political challenges coming with this initiative. “
He said that the session also consider how we should make this project of data connectivity, energy connectivity, green hydrogen connectivity and people connectivity to make this project a multimodal corridor instead of transport corridors. Also, we want to find out whether apart from this prescribed route, there is scope for alternative routes.
Talking to IANS, the Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt, Kamal Zayed Kamel Galal, described the session as information and more important. He said that different aspects of the Indo-Madhya Pradesh East-Europe Economic Corridor were discussed in this session.
