West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim on Saturday raised a controversy by saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stopped the armed forces “fear of a big country” during the ‘Operation Sindoor’, after which the BJP attacked them and said that he was speaking like a “Pakistani leader”.
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP Information Technology (IT) cell, targeted a video of the alleged statement of Hakim to journalists, targeting and accused him of an “derogatory attack” against the Prime Minister on the instructions of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
In the video, Hakim was heard telling reporters, “The Prime Minister had stopped the Indian Army attacks against Pakistan, like a” kaparush ‘(timid), for fear of a big country. How can the Prime Minister claim that he has done a big job? How can they take credit for Operation Sindoor? “
Reversing the Hakim, Malaviya wrote in a post on ‘X’, “Listen carefully to what Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim is saying – this is the person who once called some parts of Kolkata a ‘mini Pakistan’ and openly dreams of making India an Islamic state.”
He said, “Now under the clear instructions of his leader Mamata Banerjee, he has launched a disgusting and derogatory attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He shamelessly claimed that Prime Minister Modi had no role in giving a befitting reply to Pakistan through Operation Sindoor. He called the Prime Minister a step ahead to follow the ceasefire and not to extend Operation Sindoor to follow the war.”
He said, “To be honest, this rhetoric seems to be less of an Indian leader and more of a Pakistani leader who is trying to make the Indian government and its leadership look smaller. Such statements highlight the mentality of those who keep biased hatred above the national interest. The people of India will understand it.”
