Hanoi, 9 June (IANS). Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, has received 150 new cases of Kovid-19 between May 30 and June 6. This is slightly lower than the figures of the previous week.
According to reports, 558 infection cases have been reported in Hanoi city since the beginning of 2025. These cases are 109 less than the same period last year.
News agency Xinhua quoted the Vietnam News Agency as saying that Hanoi Disease Control Center has requested local units to strengthen public communication on Kovid-19 and other seasonal diseases.
Meanwhile, Kovid cases are increasing once again in the country, currently 5,364 active cases have been reported and four deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours.
Since January 1, more than 4,700 people in India have been free from this virus infection, while 55 deaths have occurred during this period.
Recently, the new strain NB.1.8.1 is due to the rise in Covid infected cases, a sub -variant of Omikron. The strain has been found in many countries including Britain, America, Australia, Thailand, China and Hong Kong.
NB.1.8.1 was first identified in January 2025. It is a mixture of the last two strain.
On May 23, the World Health Organization nominated NB.1.8.1 as a variant under monitoring. According to a definition given by the World Health Organization in 2023, VUM is a variant that has been genetic changes that can affect the characteristics of the virus. Initial data suggests that NB.1.8.1 can spread more easily than other variants or grow rapidly, although it has not been confirmed yet.
The effect of NB.1.8.1 on health, immunity and transmission is still being studied. However, laboratory -based models indicate that this strain connects more efficiently with human cell receptors, showing that it can infect cells more effectively than earlier variants.
Common symptoms associated with NB.1.8.1 include sore throat, cough, fever, muscle pain and nasal closure. Some patients have also seen gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and diarrhea.
Despite the emergence of this new strain, health experts emphasize that vaccine infections, serious illnesses, hospitalization and providing strong protection against death.
