The Delhi High Court on Thursday rejected the bail application of Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah in a case of terrorism financing.
A bench of Justice Naveen Chawla and Justice Shalinder Kaur ruled the verdict, dismissing Shah’s appeal challenging the order of a lower court of July 20, 2023 to refuse to grant bail to Shabir.
Shabbir Shah challenged the decision of the special court of the National Investigation Agency to refuse to grant bail. There are 24 cases against Shabbir Shah so far. Shabbir Shah was arrested by NIA in 2017.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court reserved the verdict after hearing the bail plea of Shabbir Ahmed Shah. Shabbir Shah had moved the High Court against the order to refuse to bail him by the Special NIA court.
Shabbir Shah’s lawyer Colin Gonzalvis said in the court that Shabbir Shah was in custody for the last six years, but has not proved any crime against him. There is no concrete evidence in the NIA charge sheet against Shabbir Shah. There were 24 cases against Shabbir Shah, out of which he has been charged with accused, three cases have been rejected, and three cases are pending investigation.
