Ambala. Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labor Minister Anil Vij met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi today and made three important demands related to the development of his constituency Ambala Cantonment. These demands include the acquisition of military land for the expansion of the civil hospital, construction of forelane road to the domestic airport of Ambala Cantonment, and widening some roads adjacent to the military area. Vij requested the Defense Minister to transfer the land of the army adjoining the Civil and Cancer Hospital in Ambala Cantonment to the Haryana government. He said that a large number of cancer patients are coming from seven nearby states for treatment at the Atal Cancer Hospital, which started on 9 May 2022. Due to not having a suitable place for patients’ timbers, there is a plan to create a dharamshala of Vij, which requires land.
Apart from this, a Critical Care Center and a Spinal Injury Center are also to be set up at Ambala Cantonment Civil Hospital, which requires about two to three acres of land respectively. The civil hospital, which was built decades ago when Ambala’s population was low, is now inadequate for a population of about two and a half million, so its expansion is extremely important.
Anil Vij also urged the Defense Minister to convert the road into a fourlane under the army reaching the newly constructed domestic airport in Ambala Cantonment. He reminded that in the past, 20 acres of land was transferred from the army to the state government for Rs 133 crore for the construction of this airport.
Additionally, Cabinet Minister Vij requested the Defense Minister to widen less wide roads like the surrounding roads at several places of Ambala Cantonment Municipal Council and Cantonment Board like Boh and Babyal.
These roads are decades old and are not corresponding to current traffic requirements, so their widening is very important. The meeting is part of Anil Vij’s continuous efforts to develop infrastructure development and public facilities in Ambala Cantonment, for which he has taken the initiative to coordinate with the central government.
