Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, after violent action against the protesting students on June 10, there is a wave of unrest, in which about 20 students were injured. After the incident, a student sitting on an indefinite dharna has demanded the immediate resignation of Vice Chancellor Dr. Baldev Raj Kamboj. The students have accused them of failing to protect the students and misusing their positions. The students have also demanded the arrest and dismissal of Professor Radheshyam. He alleges that he carried out a physical attack on several protesters, seriously injured.
Apart from this, the students have also demanded Registrar Dr. Pawan Kumar, Student Welfare Director Dr. ML Khichhar and Chief Security Officer Sukhbir Singh to be prosecuted for violence on students in the campus. Students are protesting and urging university officials to withdraw the controversial amendment, causing scholarship to be cut. Also, ICAR is urging to restore the original structure to suit the criteria.
Despite repeated efforts, Vice Chancellor Dr. BR Kamboj could not be contacted. Dr. SK Pahuja, Dean of Agriculture College, said that he is in touch with the students and also met the students injured in the hospital. While requesting the students to negotiate with the university administration, he said that the incident of violence will be investigated and action will be taken later. Congress MP (Sirsa) Kumari Selja today met the agitating students and said that the incident of lathicharge reflects the dictatorial attitude of the university administration. He urged Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini to take immediate cognizance of the incident of serious injuries to the students. He said, “I have come to know that an attempt is being made to suppress the incident which is a criminal act. I urge Hisar SP to take the matter seriously and show sensitivity in the matter. The police should not set any wrong example.” He said that the Vice Chancellor is full of responsibility for this incident. The incident took place on June 10, 2025 after the students started a peaceful dharna outside the Vice Chancellor’s office. The students, hurt by these incidents, today presented a formal complaint to the President, the Chief Justice of India and the Prime Minister. The students pleaded for intervention and justice and wrote, “We are feeling helpless, frightened and psychologically upset.”
