On the third day of Ganpati Puja, a terrible incident came to know at the Shahupuri police station in Kolhapur. Head constable Tanaji Ramchandra Chungle was told on a phone that ‘mother’s murder has been done’. The case was of Makadwala Basti located in Kawala Naka in Tarrani Chowk, where the tribal community lived.
Blood -soaked drain and dreadful scene

Sunil told the police that he was asking for money from his 63 -year -old mother for alcohol. The mother refused and said, ‘I have no money, come, roast me and eat it.’ In this insult and anger, he killed the mother, took out the limbs and cooked on the pan and ate it.
Investigation and punishment
Kolhapur police investigated the entire incident. The post -mortem report and forensic investigation confirmed the evidence. In 2021, the court sentenced Sunil to death. He appealed to the Bombay High Court, but after nearly three years of hearing, the court accepted the verdict of the lower court and described it as a ‘rarest of rare’ (very rare and serious) case. This case was not only embarrassing humanity, but it also offers a deep glimpse of mental illness, alcohol addiction and social problems. This type of crime is warned for society that we should pay serious attention to mental health and family feud.
