Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions on Sunday to prepare strict standard operations process (SOP) for helicopter operations in the state. The Chief Minister gave these instructions a few hours after a helicopter crashed in Kedarnath on Sunday.
Taking the accident seriously, the Chief Minister directed the officers to make strict SOPs in which it is mandatory to complete the technical status of the helicopter and take accurate information of the weather before the flight.
For this, he directed Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan to set up a committee of technical experts who will prepare the SOP after a thorough review of all the technical and safety aspects of the operation of the Heli service.
The Chief Minister said that this committee will ensure that the operation of heli services is completely safe, transparent and according to the prescribed standards.
He also said that the High Level Committee formed to investigate the helicopter cracks in the state in the state will also give its report by intensively investigating every aspect of the accident on Sunday.
Dhami said that this committee would investigate the cause of every accident and identify the guilty persons or institutions and recommend strict action against them.
Describing Heli Seva as important in pilgrimage, disaster management and emergency services in the state, Dhami said that security will be given top priority.
A helicopter of a private company carrying the devotees from Kedarnath to Guptkashi crashed on Sunday morning, killing seven people, including six devotees on it. Pilot is also among those who lost their lives.
