New Delhi, 16 June (IANS). The land of India has been mine of medicines for thousands of years. A simple-looking but influential herb-Arkamool, also called Akaua, Akoda or Madar in common language, very few people know that this herb is not only in external diseases, but also in inner disorders, toxination, and mental purification.
Arkamool is a shrubby plant, which is a scientific name ‘Calotropis Gigantia’ and is from the Apocinesi family. Its height is 3-5 feet and white milk comes out on breaking the stem or leaves, which is rich in medicinal properties. Charak Samhita considers Arkamool as useful for digestion and internal diseases, while Sushruta Code considers it mainly in getting rid of diseases and wounds. Some research has found that anti-cancer properties have also been found in the elements of calotropis. This can prevent uncontrolled growth of cells.
The use of Arkamool in the Sushruta Samhita also helps mainly to reduce wounds, ulcers, inflammation, toxic insect bites and snake effects. Extract milk is used in the treatment of hemorrhoids, it reduces inflammation and relieves pain. The use of madar flowers is considered helpful in case of asthma or shortness of breathing.
It is also highlighted how to use it in Sushruta Samhita. According to the medical book, the powder is prepared by breaking the flowers of mud and dries well in the sun. Consumption of this powder helps in removing problems like lung disease, asthma and weakness. If you are suffering from toothache, then you can get relief in pain by putting cotton ball in Arkamool milk and applying it on the gums.
It is also an effective remedy to remove toothache as well as to remove the ulcers on the skin. In Tantric and Vedic traditions, the extract plant is considered a symbol of Shiva. Its root is proved in meditation or chanting. Its milk is quite toxic, do not apply it on the eye, nose or open wound and do not consult pregnant women, young children or heart patients without the advice of Vaidya.
