Officials investigating the case of an Air India flight AI-171 crashed on June 12 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, confirmed that the cockpit voice recorder had been recovered, which would help identify the possible cause behind the accident. A total of 270 people, including 241 people aboard the aircraft, were killed in this accident.
Earlier, the aircraft was reported to have received flight data recorders (FDRs).
Officials, Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, P.K. Mishra confirmed to get a black box.
An official release said that Mishra chaired a high -level review meeting here and discussed relief, rescue and investigation efforts with senior officials of the Central and State Governments, Aerial Accident Investigation (AAIB) and the Airports Authority of India.
The release stated that the AAIB has started a detailed investigation, and the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting parallel investigation under the International Protocol, as the aircraft was manufactured in the US.
It said, “The officials told Dr. Mishra that the flight data recorder (FDR) and the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) have been detected and secured.”
