TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Monday accused the Center of lack of accountability over the Pahalgam terror attack and raised five questions on his “disability” in border security, foreign policy, perceived intelligence failure and the nation taking into confidence.
In a long post on X, Banerjee claimed, “The Pahalgam terrorist attack has been over 55 days. It is extremely worrying that neither the mainstream media, nor the members of the opposition nor the judiciary have come forward to raise these five important questions before the Government of India.”
He said, “However, as a public representative assigned to a citizen and accountability committed to the good of the nation, I raise these five questions before the Government of India.”
The TMC leader first questioned how four heavy -armed terrorists managed to infiltrate and attack the Indian border, killing 26 civilians.
Describing it as “heavy breach in national security”, Banerjee asked who would take responsibility for this “failure”. He also targeted the Intelligence Bureau and questioned why his chief was given a one -year service extension only a month after the attack.
He asked, “If this intelligence was a failure, why was the intelligence bureau chief a one -year service extension, barely a month after the attack? Why was he rewarded instead of justifying him? What is the compulsion?”
Banerjee also questioned the “selective” use of monitoring technology by the government.
He asked, “If the government can easily use the Pegasus spyware against opposition leaders (in which I am included), journalists and even judges, who is stopping it from using the same device against terrorist networks and suspects?”
Banerjee doubted the fate of the attackers in Pahalgam and demanded clarity.
Diamond Harbor MP of TMC wrote on social media, “Where are the four terrorists responsible for this cruel, religious genocide? Are they dead or are they alive? If they have been killed, the government has failed to make a clear statement? And if they have not done this, then why is there silence?”
He also raised the issue of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) and questioned the “silence” of the Center on the alleged statement of the US President, claiming that he persuaded India to cease to cease with trade promises.
Banerjee asked, “When will India withdraw Pakistan -occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK)? Why did the government not officially respond to the US President’s claim that he had persuaded India to ceasefire with a promise of business?”
He said, “Just as the whole country was standing above caste, creed, religion and political equality, celebrating the victory of religion and saluting the valor and sacrifice of our armed forces, why was the sentiments of 140 crore Indians disregarded?”
In his fifth and final question, Banerjee criticized the government’s diplomatic efforts after the Pahalgam incident. He asked, “How many countries gave clear support to India after contacting 33 countries in the last one month after Pahalgam?”
Banerjee questioned why he got global support instead of being condemned by Pakistan.
The TMC leader asked, “If we are actually the world guru and the fourth largest economy in the world, then why did the IMF and the World Bank approve the financial assistance and long-term investment of $ 1 billion and 40 billion to Pakistan soon after the Pahalgam attack? How a country that has been involved in the border terrorism, not only survived the global investigation but also rewarded it?”
He said, “And even more shocking is why Pakistan was barely appointed as the Vice President of the Anti -Terrorism Committee of the UN Security Council after a month?”
Banerjee concluded the post with a sharp comment on foreign policy expenses.
He said, “More than Rs 2000000000 (two lakh crore) has been spent on foreign affairs in the last 10 years. The Indian public is entitled to transparency, accountability and result – not of silence and rotation! The nation is waiting for the response.”
