Ahmedabad, 16 June (IANS). High level International Aviation Investigators and Representatives of Boeing have reached Ahmedabad to help in investigating the Ahmedabad aircraft accident of India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
241 people, including the crew, died in the Ahmedabad plane crash.
Several sources were quoted as saying that the investigation delegation consists of officials of the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Participation in investigators’ investigation is in accordance with the Global Civil Aviation Rules, especially the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which makes cooperation between the country and the countries suffering from the accident mandatory.
The accident victims of the accident included 181 Indian citizens including 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese, a Canadian and 12 crew members.
Air India’s AI 171 from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after flying.
A day after the accident, the flight data recorder (FDR) of the aircraft was recovered. It contains all important information related to the aircraft. Along with this, the Cockpit voice recorder has also been recovered.
The investigation will also include experts from the US engine supplier GE Aerospace, who have canceled other programs to prioritize investigation in India.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Principal Secretary P.K. Mishra visited the accident site and civil hospital, where the bodies of the victims are being identified. He later chaired a high -level meeting with the central and state officials, reviewing relief works and reiterated the Center’s commitment to assist the bereaved families.
PMO officials Tarun Kapoor and Mangesh Ghildiyal were also with him.
