New Delhi, 18 June (IANS). Union Minister of State for Roads, Transport and Highways and Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra said on Wednesday that Bitumen Emotion Technology will play an important role in achieving the vision of India developed by 2047 and by 2070 by 2070.
At the International Cranference on the Bitmen Emulsion 2025 (ICBE 2025) organized by the PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI) and Nurian, Malhotra said that the Modi government will have an important role of Bitmen Emalance in Net Zero target by 2047. It is an emerging area and can be used effectively in cold and rainy season, it is also viable for quick solutions.
He further stated that the road infrastructure contributes 3.2 percent to the country’s GDP, it has created 650 crore man -day employment and has a direct and indirect impact.
40 percent of the total bitumen used in India is imported, it is both a challenge and opportunity. Another major challenge in this is to improve cost-efficiency. India has a 6 million km road infrastructure, in the last 10 years, we have built 60,000 km highways. Out of the total, 7.5 million km of rural roads are and 3.5 lakh kilometers of rural roads have been built in the last 10 years.
PHDCCI CEO and General Secretary Dr. Ranjit Mehta, while sharing the industry’s approach, said that India is at the forefront of the construction of the world -class infrastructure. We have an ambitious plan to build 40 km of roads per day and are examples of projects like Bharatmala, Sagarmala and PM Gram Sadak Yojana. This conference is important because we cannot make tomorrow’s roads in tomorrow’s methods. For this reason, we need techniques such as bitumen emulsion to make fast, better and durable roads and should also be used for city roads.
He further said that India aims to become net zero by 2070, so this road construction will play an important role. We need to adopt green technology to support this goal.
CSIR-CRRI Director Prof. Entertainment Parida said that CSIR-CRRI has been very active in providing technology that fits in the agenda of sustainable practice. Also said that microsurfacing and surface dressing are no longer just laboratory exercises, they are scalable.
