New Delhi, 20 June (IANS). The Israeli-Iran struggle has had a great impact on the country’s rice exports and the rice shipment going to Iran has stopped close. Rice exporters gave this information on Friday.
Talking to news agency IANS, rice exporter Narendra Miglani said, “The ongoing war between Iran and Israel has affected India’s rice exporters. The struggle has stopped exporting rice to the rice leading to Iran, which has stopped at about 1 million metric tonnes of rice ports exported from Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and UP.”
He further said, “India exports the most basmati rice to Iran. After that, Saudi Arabia exports rice to Iraq at number three.”
Miglani further said, “Rice prices exported due to war have declined by about 1200 per quintal. The biggest concern of exporters is about their rice money and their rice container standing on the port land, because there is no insurance of rice exporters, due to which there is no fear of getting millions of rupees. The permit for four months is made for four months, in which the exporters have to deliver rice if the rice does not reach at the appointed time.
Recently released Crisil report said, “India’s direct trade with Israel and Iran is less than 1 percent of the total trade. Iran’s main export is Basmati rice, business with Israel is more diverse and includes fertilizer, diamonds and electrical equipment.”
The report further stated that Iran and Israel contribute about 14 percent to India’s basmati rice exports in FY 2025.
