Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Saturday that after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, the parks of tourist places closed due to security reasons are being reopened in a phased manner, so that tourists can roam at those places.
Sinha said, “Some places were closed after 22 April (attack) due to security reasons. Divisional commissioners and police supervisors of Kashmir and Jammu have taken reports from every district and it has been decided to reopen some places in a phased manner.”
The Lieutenant Governor was addressing journalists after visiting the Nunwan base camp of the annual Amarnath Yatra at Pahalgam in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
Sinha said that in the first phase, the sites which have been decided to reopen for tourists include the famous tourist destination of Pahalgam, Betab Valley and Park near Pahalgam Bazaar, Verinag, Kokranag and Achabal Udyan in Anantnag district.
Badamwari Park in Srinagar, Duck Park near Nigin and Takdir Park near Hazratbal will also be reopened in the first phase. He informed that these eight places are being reopened and tourists can visit these places.
The Lieutenant Governor also said that eight sites in Jammu region will also be reopened.
“In the first phase, eight sites are being reopened in the first phase. In the next phase some other sites will be reopened.”
