Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the National Conference (NC) Farooq Abdullah on Sunday welcomed the arrests made by the NIA in the fierce attack on April 22 in Pahalgam.
A total of 26 civilians were killed in a heinous terrorist attack at Basarn Maidan in Pahalgam Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, most of which were tourists. The National Investigation Agency today said that two people have been arrested on charges of sheltering terrorists.
Talking to ANI, Abdullah said, “Now we will find out who they were (terrorists) and where they came from. If they have caught them properly, it is a very good thing for us that we will gradually reach those people who attacked Pahalgam.”
The NIA said the two accused arrested, Parvez Ahmed Jotha, a resident of Batkot, Pahalgam and Bashir Ahmed Jothar, a resident of Hill Park in Pahalgam, have revealed the identity of three armed terrorists involved in the attack and also confirmed that he was a Pakistani citizen associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET).
The NIA, citing its investigation, said, “Parvez and Bashir deliberately sheltered three armed terrorists in a hut in Hill Park before the attack.
The press release stated that “NIA, who arrested two accused under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, is further investigating the case filed after the attack on the world on 22 April 2025 (RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU).
