New Delhi . Indian Navy warship Stealth Friget INS Tegh has successfully performed the visit to Port Lewis of Mauritius. During his deployment, INS Tegh jointly monitored the Executive Economic Zone with ships and aircraft of the national coast guards of Mauritius. This partnership reflects the commitment of both countries against protecting global marine resources and illegal, uncontrolled fishing. During this period, many professional, social and cultural programs were organized showing strong maritime partnership between India and Mauritius. The warship arrived here under its operational deployment in the southwest Indian Ocean region. It is an advance row warship of the Western Naval Command.
Under the capacity building and exchange of ‘Best Practices’, the personnel of Mauritius National Coast Guard were trained in fire fighting, damage control, bridge and engine room monitoring, electrical system and small arms operations. Live demonstrations like piracy diving were also done. Captain Vikas Guleria, Commanding Officer of INS Tegh, also met several senior government and military officials during his deployment at Mauritius. These included Mauritius Police Commissioner Ramparasad Surujbali, Cabinet Secretary Suresh Sebalak, India High Commissioner Anurag Srivastava, Secretary of Home Affairs and Commander of Cost Guard.
These high -level meetings gave more deep understanding between India and Mauritius and further strengthened bilateral relations. A joint yoga session was also held on 21 June to commemorate the International Yoga Day 2025. About 150 participants participated in it. It consisted of Police Commissioner, Indian High Commissioner, Coast Guard Officer and crew of INS Tegh. In addition, several entertaining and sports activities were also organized, including the signal mountain trekking and a friendly volleyball match, promoting harmony and cultural exchange.
The Navy believes that this journey of INS Tegh is an important step towards strengthening marine security cooperation and bilateral relations between India-Moricus. This not only strengthened the operational coordination, but also depths the partnership of the two countries, which is based on shared values, mutual belief and a common approach to the rich Indian Ocean region.
