The results of the assembly by -elections in Gujarat have won the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while the Congress suffered a crushing defeat. AAP candidate Gopal Italia won the Visavadar seat by winning 75,942 votes. On this seat, the Congress finished third with only 5,501 votes, while BJP’s Kirit Patel got 58,388 votes. Significantly, in 2022, AAP won this seat, but later the MLA joined the BJP, which had to hold the by -election.
At the same time, BJP’s Rajendra Chavda won the Kadi seat with 99,742 votes. Congress candidate Ramesh Chavda got 60,290 votes, while AAP’s Jagdish Chavda got only 3,090 votes. The seat was vacant due to the death of BJP MLA. These results have further weakened the position of Congress.
