New Delhi, 25 June (IANS). Scientists in Australia have created a new and very special device, with the help of which scientists can now track each cell inside a developed embryo.
This discovery is considered a big success for scientists. With this, scientists will be able to understand fetal development better. It will help to find out the cause of diseases related to birth. New methods of treatment will be found in future.
According to the news agency Xinhua, in this study, scientists have introduced a new technology called Loxcode. This technique gives a special DNA barcode to every cell of genetically modified mice.
The team headed by Melbourne -based Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) reported that with the help of DNA barcode given to every cell, scientists can find out how many times a cell is divided into which part of the body, and it changed for what particular organ or work.
Loxcode technology can make about 30 billion different DNA barcodes, which is more than any technology so far.
The team of scientists said that the Loxcode technology has now been adopted worldwide. It is being used in understanding the development of the brain, in research on the immune system and in the study of organs.
In research, scientists found that a few days after pregnancy, some cells already decide whether they will become part of the brain, blood or any particular organ, but some cells can turn into any organ.
Professor Shalin Naik, head and chief researcher of WEHI lab, said, “When life begins and the fetus is a small ball of some cells, then we saw that there are some cells that can turn into any part of the entire body, while some cells have already decided that they will be a part of brain, intestine, arm or blood.”
Professor Shalin Naik said, “The most pleasure I am that new avenues of research have been opened due to Loxcode technology. Scientists around the world are using it, and this technique is helping our body to understand the most depth.”
