Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan have signed a visa discount agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders. The announcement was made after the 12th session of the Joint Ministerial Commission-JMC held on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.
The purpose of the agreement:
To simplify the movement of diplomats and government officials
Deepen the strategic, economic and development cooperation between the two countries
Review of progress in areas like business, investment, energy, infrastructure and IT
Major facts:
More than 17 lakh Pakistani migrants live in UAE, who are one of the largest foreign population there.
In the last year (2024), more than 64,000 Pakistanis got employment in UAE.
Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar informed on the social media platform X that three important agreements (MUS) have been signed between UAE and Pakistan. Dar said, these agreements will open new avenues of mutual profit and intensive cooperation for both countries.

The 12th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission-JMC was held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. The meeting was co-chairmanship by Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahayan.

The meeting reviewed the entire perimeter of bilateral relations and agreed on concrete steps to increase cooperation in the following areas:

Banking and financial system
Culture and higher education
Aviation and Railways
Energy and Food Security
