There has been an accident on the mountains once again in Uttarakhand. A vehicle carrying pilgrims fell into the Alaknanda River on Thursday morning, killing at least two people, injuring eight and ten others went missing.
The local police gave information about the incident and said that the vehicle (a tempo traveler) crashed near Ghatir village on the Badrinath National Highway between Rudraprayag and Gauchar.
Relief and rescue teams have reached the spot.
Red Cross Society rescue team member Satyendra Singh Bhandari told PTI that two bodies have been recovered, one near the accident site and the other from the river near Rudraprayag.
He said that seven people, including three women and two children, were injured in the accident, while ten others are missing. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. Bhandari said that when the vehicle fell into the river, there were 20 people including the driver.
He quoted the injured as saying that it is being told that the Tempo traveler was going towards Badrinath Dham, when the accident happened at around seven thirty in the morning.
The pilgrims came on a Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand from Udaipur in Rajasthan.
