File photo of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallakarjun Kharge. Sanjay Mishra, Jagran. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi does not seem to be backing down from his claims of rigging in Maharashtra elections. The answer by the Congress to the Leader of the Opposition to discuss issues related to the Maharashtra elections is a clear indication. On this invitation, the party has said after consulting its legal advisors that after five o’clock in the evening of Maharashtra elections, CCTV footage and machine list that can be read with machine are only two things on which the Leader of the Opposition is ready to discuss, provided the Election Commission should give them first.
According to official sources of the Congress, the invitation letter sent to Rahul Gandhi has been responded to by the party. It is believed that a team of top legal advisors of the Congress has drafted the counter letter sent to the Commission after intensive deliberations. It said that many questions related to irregularities in Maharashtra elections have been raised by opposition leaders, but first CCTV footage and voter list should be made available.
If the Election Commission does so, Rahul Gandhi is ready for talks. According to the way the Election Commission sent a letter to the Leader of the Opposition under its official level protocol, the Congress has sent this reply to the Commission with the signature of party treasurer Ajay Maken and other leaders. At the same time, Mallikarjun Kharge alleged during the press conference on Wednesday that the Election Commission has become a puppet of the Modi government. He alleged that BJP-Modi is winning elections through machines by catching this puppet and actually the election is not winning the machine.
Kharge said that Maharashtra election is an example of this where the opposition party won the Lok Sabha by a big margin but everything changed within five months and eight percent of the voters increased in the voter list which were never before in the country. Along with questioning the fairness of the election, Kharge once again demanded to hold elections with ballot paper and said that when America, Britain etc. are conducting elections with ballot paper, then why can we not get it done.
