New Delhi, 27 June (IANS). Within a few seconds of flying from Ahmedabad Airport, Boeing Dreamliner aircraft have been called by Boeing officials, Air India representatives, Civil Aviation Secretary and DGCA officials have been called by the Parliamentary Committee for transportation. The meeting is likely to be held in the first week of July.
According to sources, along with the maintenance of aircraft in the aviation sector, “many shortcomings” are now a matter of great concern. The committee will also consider the recent helicopter crash on the Char Dham pilgrimage route.
Sources said that the discussion will include the role of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), aircraft maintenance program and mental fitness of pilots.
The committee’s report will probably be presented in the next session of Parliament.
Prior to this meeting, the committee is going to conduct a consultation in Gangtok to review air and road connectivity for the northeastern states, focusing on developing tourism. Committee members are expected to travel by Air India aircraft to directly evaluate the airline and its operation.
The DGCA had ordered three senior Air India officials, including a Divisional Vice President, to immediately remove all the responsibilities related to flight crew scheduling and rostering under the first punitive action after the Boeing accident.
It has also asked the Tata Group owned airline to initiate internal disciplinary proceedings against the three officials without any delay. Failure to do so will be taken serious action, including the possibility of cancellation of the operation license of the airline.
Meanwhile, the Air India Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) has started analyzing black box data recovered from Air India flight AI 171 accident site.
According to an official statement on Thursday, “The black box was brought from Ahmedabad to Delhi on 24 June 2025 by Indian Air Force aircraft with full security. The front black box reached AAIB lab in Delhi with AAIB Director (DG) on 24 June 2025 at 14:00 pm.”
The statement said, “On the evening of 24 June 2025, the team headed by the Director General of AAIB started the data extraction process in collaboration with AAIB and US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) technical members. Crash Protection Module (CPM) was safely taken out from the front black box and successfully reached the memory module on 25 June 2025. Downloaded in AAIB Lab. “
