On Saturday, 28 June 2025, 13 soldiers were killed and 29 others injured in a suicide bomb blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of northwest Pakistan. According to local officials, a suicide bomber hit a vehicle filled with explosives in a military convoy in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district. 10 military personnel and 19 citizens were injured in the incident.
Police and army sources said that the explosion was so powerful that there was chaos in the surrounding market. No organization has taken responsibility for the attack yet, but Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed groups are active in the region. In the last few months, terrorist activities have increased in the region, especially near the Afghan border. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospitals, where the condition of many is said to be critical.
The Pakistani Army has increased security at the scene and started a campaign for retaliation. The attack took place at a time when regional tension and terrorist incidents have increased in recent weeks. Local residents have demanded the government to strengthen the security system.
